Alexander Landerman Drawing Artist-in-Resident Demonstration
July 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am EDTFREE
Create a sketchbook using materials provided by Artist in Residence Alexander Landerman. View Alexander’s slide show and demonstrate pen and Ink, graphite and charcoal techniques as he tells you about his work. In explaining his approach to representing nature, Alexander stated “by anthropomorphizing animals and placing them in vulnerable or human-like positions, I encourage a connection between viewers and subject. Through suspending the subject in moments of tension, I subtly push feelings of discomfort, apathy, aggression or fear on the viewer. This encourages them to question the level of understanding possessed by animals and their potential role in society.”
Come to the Old Carpenter Shop/Folk School for Alexander’s presentation. A Michigan Recreation Passport is required.
