Finnish Nalbinding: Day 1 of 2
September 26 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT$90
Out of respect for students, instructors and the larger community and concern for the safety and wellbeing of all, Folk School classes for the 2020 season are cancelled. The committee will work hard to reschedule classes for a robust 2021 season.
Instructor: Donna Kallner. Learn a Finnish folk art tradition for stitching yarn using your thumb as a gauge to make thick, warm wearables like hats mittens and slippers. This technique is worked with a single long wooden needle. You seldom need to count stitches or follow a pattern as you stitch, and the structure is so stable that your stitches can’t unravel. Older than knitting not crochet, perfect handwork for traveling.
A minimum of 5 students need to be registered by Saturday, September 19 in order to hold the class. Maximum of 12 students. To register for this class, click “Add to Cart” below or call 906-884-7663. For information about refunds, click on the Refund Policy link at the bottom of the Folk School page.
Directions: Follow M-107 west from Silver City to Union Bay Campground (turn right), take first gravel road to right – you are there! We are in the old carpenter’s shop, the first building on your right.
