Play Again – Conservation Film Series
July 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
At a time when children play more behind screens than outside, PLAY AGAIN explores the changing balance between the virtual and natural worlds. Is our connection to nature disappearing down the digital rabbit hole? The Thursday July 13th film in the Friends of the Porkies Conservation Film Series will shed light on the digital rabbit hole. The showing is at 7:00 PM at the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park Visitor Center near Union Bay.
This emotionally moving and humorous documentary follows six teenagers who, like the “average American child,” spend five to fifteen hours a day behind screens. PLAY AGAIN unplugs these teens and takes them on their first wilderness adventure – no electricity, no cell phone coverage, no virtual reality. Through the voices of children and leading experts, the film investigates the consequences of a childhood removed from nature and encourages action for a sustainable future. It may help you know what can be done to limit the time spent watching TV, using the internet, or playing videogames, and engage with and enjoy nature instead. This is a thought provoking yet entertaining film. View the trailer at:
