Stitching and Dyeing the Shibori Way
July 21 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm EDT
Join textile artist Heidi Bukoski to create an attractive sampler piece using shibori, a stitching and binding technique that the Japanese have used for nearly 1000 years. Heidi will show you how to have fun using a traditional indigo dye bath with high quality cotton fabric to learn the basics and then create another piece using your own design.
Students need to bring: a seam ripper and/or very sharp, pointed small scissors; a thimble (if you use one), rubber gloves for dyeing, an old towel, and your reading glasses (cheaters).
Please bring a lunch.
A minimum of 5 students need to be registered by Saturday, June 2 in order to hold the class. To register for this class or for more information about Friends of the Porkies or the Folk School, visit www.porkies.org, call 906-884-7663 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
