Saving the Dark: a Conservation Film

Saving the Dark documents how excessive and improper lighting robs us of our night skies, disrupts our sleep patterns and endangers nocturnal habitats. The current advances in LED technology have enabled several cities to safely light their streets and save energy without disrupting the nighttime environment. Saving the Dark explores the need to preserve dark night.. Admission is free. Donations are welcomed. Film is SDH captioned for the Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing. Refreshments will be offered.  Discussion after the film.

Check back next year.   Discover a new art medium, metal clay, a product made from recycled copper, silver or gold reclaimed from film, dental work or computer boards. Follow directions from instructor Kristy Walden to mold a sample of silver metal clay, texture it, shape it, and fire it just as you would ceramic clay. You are in luck because the friends needs volunteers to help with the fall clearing and brushing of the ski trails and the glades on the ski hill. We are enlisting the help of youth groups to help move the branches and limbs from the trails.
