Create Your Own West Greenland Paddle: Session 3 of 3
May 22 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

CLASS CANCELLED: Instructor not available
With instructor Dave Rasmussen, design and construct a traditional Inuit kayak paddle that is tailored to your body size. The paddle is lightweight and efficient and helps to reducing paddling fatigue. During construction, you will use power tools to create the rough shape and then hand tools to craft the final product.
You are welcome to bring your own abrasive paper, hand and power tools to avoid wait time for shared tools. Tools and equipment used include: draw knives, surform files, spoke shave, hand planes, palm sander, belt sander, safety glasses, ear protection, dust mask, tape measure. Bring a lunch on Saturday. Students 14 and older are welcome. No prior experience with power tools is necessary.
A minimum of 4 students need to be registered by May 13 in order to hold the class. Maximum of 8 students. For information about refunds, click on the Refund Policy link at the bottom of the Folk School page.
Directions: Follow M-107 west from Silver City to Union Bay Campground (turn right), take first gravel road to right – you are there! We are in the old carpenter’s shop, the first building on your right.
