Blacksmithing for the Beginner: Lesson 2

Move to a new level of blacksmithing using your new skills. Create a hand-forged steel trivet with copper rivets. Instructor Payne Anne and Bill of Peninsula Hotworks will guide you as you punch and drift holes, and rivet your trivet together. In one short afternoon, you will produce one trivet to display proudly in your home. Wear natural fiber clothing, long pants and close toed shoes. All other safety equipment will be provided. Open to students age 10 and older who have completed the beginning class or have previous blacksmithing experience.

A minimum of 5 students need to be registered by Saturday, August 31 in order to hold the class. Directions: Follow M-107 west from Silver City to Union Bay Campground (turn right), take first gravel road to right – you are there! We are in the old carpenter’s shop, the first building on your right.
