Silk Painting from Nature

July 15 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm EDT

Instructor and former Artist in Residence Marty Kotter will teach you the skills needed to paint on Habotai silk. Marty will encourage you to paint a nature scene, an object from in the Porkies, or even an abstract with colors or patterns reminiscent of nature.  You will use resist, a stretcher frame, and water based silk paints to complete 1 or 2 paintings.  Marty will give suggestions about ways you may finish your paintings for display. Students who feel they can’t draw may trace one of Marty’s designs or do an abstract. Ages 11 through adult are welcome. Please bring a lunch.

A minimum of 4 students need to be registered by July 1 in order to hold the class. Maximum of 8 students.  To register for this class, click “Sign Up Online” below or call 906-884-7663. For information about refunds, click on the Refund Policy link at the bottom of the Folk School page.
