Here are some of our immediate needs:
Archery Program
Katie Urban, Park Interpreter, is enthusiastically heading up the Kids' Outdoor Skills Academy at the Porkies, which currently is focusing on an archery program. She'll be running the archery certification course in mid-May - no experience required! Help is needed for the summer program which runs from mid-June until Labor Day and then again in the fall for the school groups.
For more information, please contact Katie Urban at Urbank1@michigan.gov or 906-885-5206.
Pollinator Gardens
Gardener needed to tend to the Pollinator Gardens at the Union Bay Campground. There are two gardens by the shower facility. There are also two at the Visitor Center, which will be accessible after the parking and road renovation project in August.
For more information, please contact Katie Urban at Urbank1@michigan.gov or 906-885-5206.
Roadside Cleanup
As usual, we'll be scheduling the roadside cleanup of M-107 sometime in May. If you'd like to get out, breathe the fresh air, and enjoy spring while beautifying the area, please watch your email and our social media for more information when it becomes available!
Summer Reading Program
The Ontonagon Township Library’s summer reading program is back. For information on how you can help, visit the library web site.
Books for Library Boxes
Speaking of reading, we could also use donations of books for all ages to be used in the library boxes at the Park!
If you'd like to donate books, please contact Katie Urban at Urbank1@michigan.gov or 906-885-5206.
