Ice Dyeing 100% Cotton Fiber with Lu Opperman: Session 1 of 2

Learn how to dye fabric using ice cubes! You will take home four one of a kind items that you colored in a creative way.Lu will teach you how to manipulate cotton,woven fabrics, and knits.

Day 1: Learn folding, layering and ice cube placement. Work with Fiber Reactive Procion Powder Dyes, soda ash soak, urea dissolving agent, and glauber’s salt.

Day 2: View overnight process (curing), set colors, rinse, wash and dry.

Ages 16 and older and walk-ins are welcome. Wear clothing that may be permanently stained with dye.

We will be using eye and respiratory protection supplied by the Folk School. You are welcome to bring your own equipment if you have it.

We will need to know your t-shirt size prior to class. Please bring a lunch.

A minimum of 4 students must be registered by Thursday, July 18 for the class to go. Maximum of 8 students. To register for this class, click the registration button or call 906-884-7663.
